Goa Police bust IPL betting racket, apprehend 16 | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: The Goa Crime Branch Police made a breakthrough on Monday by apprehending 16 individuals allegedly involved in an Indian Premier League cricket betting racket.
According to police reports, the operation unfolded following intelligence gathered regarding illicit betting operations. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the authorities conducted a raid at a location in Porvorim, North Goa, where they successfully apprehended the 16 accused individuals.
Among those detained, 15 suspects hailed from Gujarat, while one was from Uttar Pradesh.The accused stand accused of facilitating bets through mobile and online platforms during the IPL cricket match contested between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.
The police confiscated a considerable cache of items from the suspects’ possession, including cash amounting to Rs 12,670, 46 mobile phones, one Tablet, nine laptops, one internet router, and various gaming electrical accessories, collectively valued at Rs 15 lakh.
The Goa Crime Branch Police have initiated further investigations into the matter, aiming to unravel the network of individuals involved in the illegal betting racket.
